Iwi introduction and map
The Iwi maps show the density of iwi populations across New Zealand. The Iwi maps differ from the Rohe map, which provides rohe boundaries rather than densities.
Hauraki is made up of the 12 iwi of Hauraki - Ngāti Hako, Ngāti Hei, Ngāti Maru (Marutuahu), Ngāti Paoa , Patukirikiri, Ngāti Porou ki Harataunga ki Mataora, Ngāti Pükenga ki Waiau, Ngāti Rāhiri Tumutumu, Ngāi Tai (Hauraki), Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Tara Tokanui, Ngāti Whanaunga, as well as the Statistics New Zealand category ‘Hauraki Region not further defined’ and the ‘Hauraki / Pare Hauraki waka or confederation’.
Please note that the iwi of Hauraki are also profiled individually, except for the small iwi of Patukirikiri, Ngāti Rāhiri Tumutumu, and the categories of ‘Hauraki Region not further defined’ and ‘Hauraki / Pare Hauraki waka or confederation’.
